Café Des Iles

Café Des Iles roasts in Victoria, Mahé.

Overview

Café Des Iles describes itself as Seychelles's only premium and specialty coffee roastery, operating from Providence on Mahé. Founded by Vincent Boullé, it brings dedicated specialty-grade roasting infrastructure to an island archipelago whose coffee culture has historically been built around Italian-style imports for resort F&B.

Known for

  • Seychelles's only dedicated premium and specialty coffee roastery
  • Providence, Victoria, Mahé location
  • Coffee education content (longevity research, polyphenol benefits) shared via social channels
  • Sources globally; roasts on-island for the Seychelles hospitality and retail markets
  • Public-facing direct contact with founder Vincent Boullé

Why it matters

Seychelles is functionally a luxury hospitality economy with no domestic coffee production, and the country's cafés overwhelmingly serve imported Italian-style coffee. Café Des Iles is the only operation rebuilding the inverse story — actually roasting on-island — and stands alongside Mauritius's Café de Chamarel as one of the only Indian Ocean island roasters of any scale.
