Terms of Use

day9 is a coffee freshness tracking service. It allows you to log coffee bags, computes freshness scores based on roast date, process, grind, and storage method, and notifies you when bags reach their peak. The Service includes a public freshness calculator, an authenticated app for tracking bags, and affiliate links to partner roasters.

day9 is provided as a free service. There are currently no paid features.

On public pages (such as Field Notes and the freshness calculator), we may load Google Analytics only after you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner. See our Privacy Policy — Third-Party Services and Cookies and Local Storage — for how GA4 is used and how to opt out.

To use the bag tracking features, you must create an account by providing your email address. We send sign-in codes via magic link or OTP — no password is required. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your email account, since access to your email grants access to day9.

You must be at least 13 years old to use day9.

The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You may not:

• Copy, modify, distribute, or exploit the Service or its content without permission
• Use the Service to harm, harass, or impersonate others
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service's operation
• Use automated tools to create accounts, log bags, or click affiliate links
• Manipulate or attempt to manipulate the affiliate attribution system to generate fraudulent commissions

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

The Service allows you to log bag information including roaster name, coffee name, notes, and other details. This content is yours. We do not claim ownership of your bag data.

You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your bag data within the Service for the purpose of providing freshness tracking, notifications, and recommendations to you.

You agree not to log content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate.

If you grant notification permission, day9 may send you push notifications about your bags. These are sent via OneSignal at the local time you specify in Settings (default 8:00 AM in your timezone). You may revoke notification permission at any time via your browser or device settings.

day9 includes affiliate links to coffee roasters and Amazon. We earn commissions on purchases made through these links. This is our primary revenue source.

• Affiliate links are clearly labeled in the app
• The price you pay through an affiliate link is the same as if you visited the merchant directly
• Commissions come from the merchant's marketing budget, not from a markup on your purchase
• We curate our roaster partnerships and recommendations based on quality and fit, not commission rate
• We never sell, trade, or share individual user data with affiliate partners

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." Freshness scores, peak day predictions, storage modifiers, and recommendations are computed using a model based on published research and practitioner consensus. They are estimates, not guarantees. Actual coffee quality is influenced by many factors beyond our model.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Freshness predictions will match your subjective experience
• Affiliate links or partner roasters will fulfill your orders correctly
• Notifications will be delivered exactly on time (subject to push delivery infrastructure outside our control)

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BrianOnAI LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service, including (but not limited to):

• Stale coffee due to missed or delayed notifications
• Failed affiliate purchases or shipping issues with partner roasters (you contract directly with the roaster, not with day9)
• Data loss
• Service interruptions

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed $100 USD or the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months (whichever is greater). Since day9 is currently free, this typically means $100 USD.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BrianOnAI LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

When you click an affiliate link, you may also be subject to the terms and privacy policies of the affiliate network (Impact, Amazon Associates) and the merchant roaster. Their terms apply to your interactions on their platforms; ours apply only within day9.

You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account and data, contact hello@day9.coffee.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, particularly in cases of abuse, fraud, or violation of these Terms. We will attempt to notify you when reasonable, but for serious violations (particularly affiliate fraud), termination may be immediate.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any features at any time. We are not liable for changes to the Service that may inconvenience you. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice when practical.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of day9 after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and BrianOnAI LLC regarding day9.
