Overview
Wyndhams Coffee is Barbados's only dedicated specialty coffee roaster, founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Mandy and Dominic Wyndham-Gittens. The roastery runs a 12kg Diedrich operated by Jalisa Als — the country's first female head roaster — and combines its own roasting program with La Marzocco, Rancilio, and Lavazza distribution for the Barbadian market.
Known for
- Barbados's only specialty coffee roaster
- Jalisa Als, the country's first female head roaster, who has done origin trips to Colombia
- Award-winning specialty pods on a Wyndhams-branded pod machine for the local market
- Surf-themed blends inspired by Bathsheba (Caribbean surfing capital where Dominic grew up)
- St Nicholas Abbey rum-barrel-aged coffee and the Cane Dog blend supporting Barbadian stray-dog rescue
Why it matters
In a tiny island market dominated by Italian and American chain imports — and where high regional tariffs make intra-Caribbean coffee trade hard — Wyndhams is doing the slow work of building a third-wave specialty operation from scratch, and putting Bajan storytelling into the cup as it goes.
